Shadow box frame. just for fun...

I made this layered 3d collage to fit in a shadow frame I had in my stash of "things to alter".
I had lots of lovely Madame Payraud papers left over from a previous magazine commission so used those.

No need for an explanation really. It's just a lot of cutting out and sticking in with 3D foam tape etc :) Back tomorrow with more for DecoArt (the inside of the book box)...

Entertaining in the craft room... Little dream notebook.

A wee quicky today.
I had a friend from Glasgow (Via Lincoln)  visit me for the first time today. she wanted to see my craft room and have her first go at "rubber stamping"...

As it was her first time at this sort of crafting we kept it simple by making a little notebook each.

I have one of those huge big block pads that sit on your desk so we took a small section off and divided it between us.
We cut out a piece of stiff card for the back and a piece of normal card to ink up and stamp on to make the cover.
As a wee tip, I would say spread some PVA glue or decoupage medium along the spine of your paper. it secures it and stops all the pages separating before you want them to.

Then we simply assembled the pieces. I forgot to get a photo of Simone's but sharing my completed note book....

Apothecary Book Box: For DecoArt

I am sharing the "outside" of an altered book box with you today. (the inside will be in a future post).

the step by step tutorial on techniques used to get the look are on the DecoArt mixed media blog HERE .

On here, I will simply share a few photos of the finished item. I have not done a tutorial for the "page effect" on the sides as, although it is not exactly the same as Candy's technique, it is close enough. so for a tutorial on that, have a look at Candy's post HERE (well worth a look as the project is beautiful).

So that is the outside. a tutorial for the effects on the inside will follow on the DecoArt mixed media blog very soon and then I can show you the inside in detail here. but here is a wee sneak peek at what to expect...
Nice to be back on blog land after my break. see you all again very very soon. thanks for dropping by Z x
